The Man On The Stairs

With a glimmering silhouette made of cigarette cherries before porch lights

In and out as a star near a cloud

Mirroring me and mine

Frustrated with love or the thought of it fleeting

Mocking mine or the thought of never receiving

Never acknowledging each others presence in the midnight still

Humid and unfavorable

As unwelcoming as the snow in shoes

A silent film yet without humor

An invisible and droning disposition

A reflective conception of two men on stairs that will never speak or step higher

Enjoy your love as I find a ladder

Wish upon a lucky smoke…
